Located high up in the Rocky Mountain Range town of Durango, Colorado, this modern home utilizes its unique site and existing views to capture all of the essences of the of living the mountain lifestyle.
Aedo + Terra Studio worked seamlessly with the client to provide a variety of programmed spaces to include a dog run, an entertaining terrace, and a sustainable planting palette that highlights the unique challenges of high alpine planting and wonderful seasonal color.

- LANDSCAPE -
Since the site of the Existing House is situated in the middle of steep sloped forest, the Aedo + Terra team used this siting of the house to its advantage. By incorporating the slope into various landscape features, the team was able to create an expansive lawn for dogs, as well as a generous entertaining terrace with views overlooking Lake Electra.
The house is immediately surrounded by lush native planting to ground the house, while an alpine meadow surround the property creating a dynamic landscape throughout the seasons while allowing the property to seamlesssly blend into the surrounding landscape.
